world championship day 2

Today was windy, very windy! We went out was not much wind, by the time we start was around 15 knots, by the first reach around 20 knots, by the end of the first race around 25, it got quite steady for a while but at the end of the second race my guess it got around 28 knots with gusts over 30. Virgilio had a very good start and did all the first triangle at the first place but toghether with Jan von der Bank were disqualified for OCS (Jan was around the 8th at the finish and Virgilio 3rd). Both races was all matters between me and Marcus, we were quite in front of the others, specially on the second race with more wind Jan Von der Bank was 3rd and 2 minutes behind, that means around 4% slower in a 51 minutes race. I was a little bit faster then Marcus Upwind and that was enough to win both races. For the position behind I don't know that much about, Matt Hosie was fast but had few cupsized, Tim Holden Broke the rudder (Top Foils) on the second race, Lorenzi bended both the rudder fittings on the second race. Was another day that the Melbournian did very well, Chris Chambers did 5th on the second race, also Paul Green from Perth did well with a 8th and 4th.
Complete results are: http://www.contenderclass.org/aus/freo2006/results_worlds.htm
Tomorrow should be less wind but still sea breeze over 15 knots, then is a bit unknown because af a cyclone on the north of west Australia.
Marco Versari ha strappato un agugliotto nella seconda prova (ha la mania di rimanere agganciato alla barra in scuffia...)
Ciao Andrea
